Palio - Leikkurien kuningas

ViestiKirjoittaja SmokingElvis » La Loka 07, 2006 1:58 pm

http://www.paliocutters.com/

http://www.cigarmony.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=52_24&products_id=381

Hello All,

I apologize but I do not speak Finish. I am trying to find out if a friend of mine can translate for me and so I could possibly answer your questions.

In case anyone speaks English, I'll give you a little background on myself and the Palio.

First, the Palio is nothing like the plastic guillotine cigar cutters that you may be used to. They are constructed of a proprietary polymer. There is a night and day difference between the Palio and any other "plastic" cutter on the market. Not to mention an unheard of warranty. They have a LIFETIME warranty. If you are ever unsatisfied with your Palio, you can walk into an authorized Palio dealer and exchange it for another.

Just a little background on myself, in case you care :) , I have been into the hobby for 16 years. Through those years I have, like everyone, purchased tons of cigar accessories from various vendors. I smoke, on average, 1-2 cigars a day and have used a wide variety of accessories.

Through the years, I (and many others) have figured out what the "best of the best" in cigar accessories are. Well, last September I got a friend of mine into smoking cigars. He got hooked pretty quickly and wanted my help in buying a cutter, lighter and humidor. We went to the "bargain" website to pick him up some items.

After spending about 1 hour sifting through all the inferior product, we placed his order and he was like a kid waiting for Christmas. About two days later, he called to tell me that 2 of the 3 items were on "back order" and would take weeks to get. They asked if he wanted something else instead.

Needless to say, he was very disappointed. I then realized that through the years, we cigar smokers have come to accept this kind of customer service in the hobby. That's when I decided to try something different. (LOL!) Here is the Cigarmony.com mantra:

1.) I try VERY hard to provide the best customer service I possibly can

2.) Carry only "the best of the best" in each category. This is through years of use and collective information from other cigar smokers. The idea behind this is that anyone can be rest assured that any product they purchase from Cigarmony.com has been time tested and they don't have to sort through the inferior products to find the ones they know to be the best.
Any new product added to site is tested for an extended period of time before being added. Several aspects are examined, including price, quality, warranty and the mfg's customer service.

3.) Everything that is on the site is in stock and ready to ship (with the Colibri's being a rare exception)! Nothing bothers me more than the "on back order" b.s. If something goes out of stock, it is removed from the site until it is within 2 days of arriving. Occasionally there is overlap between customer orders that screws this up sometimes but for the most part, it goes fairly smoothly.

I celebrated my 1 year Cigarmony Anniversary is October 1st!

I have also invented a completely new way of precisely regulating the relative humidity in your humidor to a prescribed level. It's called The Puck and I am currently working on getting into retail stores. (currently have 17 stores carrying it).

The next issue of the European Cigar Cult Journal is going to have a review on it!

Anyway, some people like to know who they are dealing with and thought you may.

Thanks again for the support, it is greatly appreciated and as soon as I can find someone to translate - I'll try to answer any questions you may have.

Nono - kaverilla on aika mielenkiintoinen (oikeasti) markkinointistrategia.

FYI: Almost everyone in Finland speaks (bad) English, i.e. that is not a problem. But we are not used to this kind of marketting, and some of us consider this approach bit rude. However, thank you for the information. Quality products are always wellcome.

Hello all.

As a moderator of a cigar forum, I did not mean to offend anyone.

I only wanted to introduce myself since it was my store that was linked on this site. I thought you might appreciate an introduction and a little background on myself and offered to answer any questions that may have been asked regarding the Palio discussion.

I also did not mean to offend anyone by posting the "in case anyone speak English" sentence. Actually the opposite. I did not want to be presumptious by assuming everyone in the world spoke English, especially on an entirely Finish board.

Please feel free to ask admin to remove my postings and please accept my sincerest apology for the intrusion, it was intended as an offer to help.

Sincerely,
~Mark

Mark,

I have to apologize on behalf of some of my fellow aficianados here in Sikaritalo forums. There was nothing wrong with your post and I'm sure you meant the whole "In case anyone speaks English" comment in a nice way not implying that Finns don't know English. On the other hand, of course you can't assume that we know the language since let's face it: we Finns know a lot more about America than you guys know about our country. It's just natural and so even if you had meant that comment in the other way you'd been justified to do so. Anyway, if you look at research and statistics Finland is easily at the top of them when it comes to language skills.

I hope you didn't get a bad image of this forums or Finns altogether. Then again, obviously being a part of Club Stogie -forums you know that things can get pretty heated in there at times so you might be used to it. I think some people got irritated by your text because we Finns tend to have the kind of mentality in which we almost don't want to be helped. If someone knocks on our door to sell something we don't necessarily answer and if someone calls us to sell magazines or whatever we just might hang up. Of course this is universal but I think we have a tendency to do more of that then you guys.

Anyway, you're certainly welcome to offer your help in these forums. I'm sure most of us don't know your store's great reputation nor do most of us know about the praise you get because of your excellent customer service. Of course, this is a small small forum (there isn't really any big cigar/smoking related Finnish forums) and most people here seem to prefer modestly priced cigar accessories. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they are cheap and as you know I'm certainly interested in your "best of the best" accessories.

Looking forward to ordering from your store. Hopefully those new Palios come soon (haven't even seen any pics of them yet).

Yours sincerely,

SmokingElvis

Selling products in Finland is pretty hard because people here are not so used to direct marketing / selling.. I work as salesman of first aid stuff for small and middle sized companies, and I know how hard finnish people can be :D

Maybe we have something to learn from you guys from "the big world"..
